Neillsville Recreation Department "Lifeguard Training" Course Being Offered

The Neillsville Recreation Department will be conducting a Red Cross, "Lifeguard Training" class in late May or early June at the Neillsville Pool.

The Recreation Department is in need of replacing 4 of their current guards who are seniors this year. Individuals interested in taking the class, must have adequate swimming skills (you could probably talk to Mrs. Matson on what is required) and be 15 years of age as of June 1st. Upon successful completion of the class (normally about 10-12 hours, depending on number of students in the class) participants will be able to lifeguard at our pool or be eligible to guard at outdoor pools like Lunda in Black River Falls or at the water parks in Wisconsin Dells.

The Red Cross now allows 15 year olds to work as lifeguards if an adult is on the premises. The exact hours have not been finalized yet, we are hopeful to get it all done in one weekend. Cost is also a bit vague, we don't want anyone excluded if they can't come up with the fee! We will work with you.

At the present time, we are just trying to get a "prospective" class list put together. A "sign-up" sheet will be provided in the high school office or you can contact Judy at the Rec. Dept. at 743-2400 or email at by the deadline of April 27th.

This will be the only class offered for 2018.
