-State Superintendent Tony Evers praised Granton Elementary for being among 167 schools in the state that received Wisconsin Title I School of Recognition honors for the 2013 14 school year during a special Oct. 8 ceremony at the State Capitol in Madison.

Evers welcomed Kay Heiting the Title 1 math teacher, Jodi Maquire the Title 1 reading teacher and Rhonda Opelt, Granton’s Principal, to the recognition event.

Tony Evers said, “Partnerships among teachers, parents, administrators, school staff members, and the community contribute to the academic success of students in schools that receive this honor.”

Principal Rhonda Opelt said, "Although I am new to my position at Granton Area School District, in my short time here I have observed; the individual attention students receive here at Granton, the innovative opportunities Granton provides for its students, as well as a supportive and engaging community. All of which promote student excellence and positive school experience."
