-Dave Flynn, the Director of Public Works gave a report during the Finance Committee Meeting earlier this month.

Dave presented the 2014 budget for his department. For the most part, the budget for the Public Works Department remained close to the same as last year. But, there were some notable increases and decreases as well. The Maps and Plats Line, under the General Government Account did decrease by $2,000.

Under the Public Works Account, the machinery and equipment line was up slightly this year at $65,035 compared to $61,485. The buildings and grounds line was down this year, $8,200 compared to last year’s $9,700.

The street lighting line is up for 2014 at $60,400 compared to last year’s $55,400, but that is to be expected as the department is working on lighting in the city already. Also, in the storm and sewer line, there is an increase for next year at $8,125 compared to $5,625 last year. But, that too is expected due to the street projects the city has planned.
