LOYAL/GRANTON SCHOOL BOARDS TO DISCUSS SHARING ADMINISTRATION
Thursday, January 27th, 2005 -- 11:53 am
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

As we told you earlier this week, a number of area schools will be meeting together on Monday night. Neillsville’s school board will be meeting with Greenwood’s, and Granton’s board will meet with Loyal’s.

Potential action items listed for the Loyal-Granton meeting include cooperative employment – both administration and staff. Granton Superintendent Jerry Nelson says he’s nearing the end of his career, and this might be a good time for Granton’s board to look into options. But, he said, it would be difficult to have two schools operate with just one administrator.

"It's been done; it's difficult," Nelson said, "You have double of everything."

"You have double the school board members, you have two different sets of board policies, two different sets of curriculum. To keep things straight and do a good job becomes a difficulty."
