Greenwood and Granton Looking Into Other Co-op Options

-The Greenwood and Granton School Districts might soon be sharing more than sports programs.

Currently, Greenwood and Granton have a cooperative football team and the two schools also have a Cross Country Team with Loyal. Granton is also in a co-op with Loyal for girls’ volleyball and softball while Greenwood is in a co-op with Loyal and Neillsville for wrestling.

The two school boards may look into sharing programs as both of them have small enrollment numbers and it looks as if the classes coming through the next several years are smaller classes.

The districts may look into academic sharing as Greenwood had to drop its Consumer and Family Education classes due to the low number of students interested and the district was unable to find a teacher. Retired tech ed. teacher John Waters was asked to come out of retirement due to the district being unable to find a tech ed. teacher for this year as well.

Granton has had a hard time attracting needed teachers to the district as well, due to the low enrollment numbers.

Both districts realize that cooperation will be necessary for them to continue to bring the best for their students and provide them with programs and extracurricular activities.
