-The Owen Police Chief has resigned.

The Owen Mayor said the city has accepted the resignation of Police Chief Randy Poirier.

According to a news release, the city and investigators looked into allegations made back in September regarding off-duty misconduct.

Officials say that the investigation didn’t turn up any significant evidence of misconduct and Chief Poirier did cooperate with the investigation.

The former chief did agree that it would be in his best interest, and his family’s and community’s, if he resigned from the position.

The city has commented that it will review its policies and procedures to make sure officers know what is appropriate while off-duty and to make sure expectations are clearly defined.
