-State Superintendent Tony Evers congratulated two Wisconsin high school graduates for being named Advanced Placement State Scholars for 2012.

The College Board Advanced Placement Program recognized Emily Nordin, a graduate of Marshfield High School, and Charles He, a graduate of Madison Memorial High School, for their performance on AP exams.

Students are chosen for the award for having scores of three or higher on the greatest number of AP exams and then the highest average score on all AP exams they have taken.

This is the 22nd year that the organization has made State AP Scholar Awards. The distinction goes to one male and one female student from each state and the District of Columbia.

In the “Eighth Annual AP Report to the Nation,” issued in February 2012, Wisconsin had the highest participation and success rates on AP tests in the 13-state Midwest region for the fourth year in a row.
