Bids, Lunch, and Computing Devices Discussed at Owen-Withee School Board Meeting

-At the recent Owen-Withee School Board, two topics were the main points of conversation during the open forum time.

Those two concerns were how the computing devices for the 1-to-1 program in grades 5-12 were being paid for and the Lunch program, especially in the elementary school. The board listened to concerns and will take appropriate actions in the future.

The board members also discussed the data from the self-evaluations and the fact that it was a little slow in coming back to the district. This will be brought up again during the November Board Meeting.

Board members also declined an offer from Unison.

Unison is a management company out of New York, NY that has offered to buy out the District’s lease for the cell tower on their property. The lump sum being offered is $39,000.

When the Board reviewed the lease agreement already in place, they get $650 per month in rent on the property which equals $7800 per year.

The lump sum being offered by Unison would only cover 5 years of their lease income so the offer was declined.
