Granton Man Arrested for Burglary, After He Calls Cops

-A Granton man was arrested for burglary and trespassing after he called the cops thinking he had discovered meth paraphernalia.

Last Thursday, the Clark County Sheriff’s Department received a report that 49-year-old Terry Vandeburg called the cops from an abandoned home on Sand Road saying he had located needles in an ice cream pail. He also found a brass sprayer with a large house connected to it.

Vandeburg told the responding officer that he was looking for scrap metal and had permission to be on the property. However, the man appeared to be intoxicated and he said he had gotten permission eight years ago, but couldn’t remember from whom. When the officer asked Vandeburg’s girlfriend about his intoxicated appearance, she said, “he gets that way when he’s tired.”

After Vandeburg and his girlfriend lead the officer to the home, he discovered needles filled with saline. He informed Vandeburg that the items were probably left behind by the previous homeowner and it was just medicine.

During this time, dispatch had informed the officer that the owner of the property, James Mills, had not given anyone permission to be on his property and he didn’t know Vandeburg. He also discovered that a door that Vandeburg had claimed to be unlocked had actually been padlocked by the owner.

Vandeburg was immediately arrested and the Preliminary Breath Tester said he had a BAC of .258.

Vandeburg has a felony charge of burglary of a building or dwelling filed against him as well as two counts of theft of moveable property.
