Matter and Stanley-Boyd Receive Honors

Tara Matter of the Spencer girls volleyball team and the Stanley-Boyd football team received honors this week from wissports.net.
Tara Matter of Spencer girls volleyball has been selected as the Army National Guard Athlete of the Week for the Week of September 17 through the 23rd following a statewide vote on WisSports.net. There were a total of 3,273 votes with Matter edging out Sam Terry of Baraboo girls volleyball.
The Stanley-Boyd Orioles have been selected as the Week 5 WSN Team of the Week following a statewide vote on WisSports.net. The Orioles' 23-10 win over Cloverbelt rival Colby was impressive for a number of reasons. The Raiders were chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 5. A total of 5371 votes were cast, but just 22 votes separated the Orioles from runner-up Menomonee Falls in one of the closest votes they’ve ever had. The 10 points by the defending Division 5 champ Hornets were the the first points Stanley-Boyd has allowed this season.
