Loyal Post Office Has Uncertain Future

-The City of Loyal could lose a community staple.
As part of the U.S. Postal Service’s cost-cutting study, Loyal’s post office is under review.
The Postal Service’s current plan is to maintain the post office with six hours of window service every day.
However, that could change if the public shows a strong preference, which must be greater than 60%, to conduct a discontinuance study that could eventually lead to the post office’s closure.
The public is now being asked to fill out a survey of its preference for the Loyal Post Office. Some other choices include, keep it open with realigned window hours based on workload, closing the office and having the services delivered by rural carriers, closing the office and having services set up at a local retail outlet, or closing the office and having a nearby post office handle P.O. boxes.
A decision will not be made until after a public meeting, for public opinion, is held on October 29th.
