Neillsville Will Help Out Local Business

-The Neillsville City Council voted to help out a local business with their renovations.

Abby Vans recently purchased a building and began extensive remodeling.
Mayor Steve Mabie wanted to give the business $35,000 to help with the paving of their parking lot. The mayor justified the amount by pointing out the jobs and business Abby Vans has brought to the city.

The decision was not made without argument however; the council members were frustrated with the short notice regarding the decision of the donation.

Even though Abby Vans had been talking with the former mayor about getting help, an answer was needed on Tuesday especially as the city would be doing the last of its paving after Labor Day. Abby Vans was having the parking lot done under the city’s contract.

There was also debate as to where that money would come from. In the end, it was decided that the money would come out of the Economic Development Fund.

The total for the remodeling of the business is up to 240,000 dollars.
