Annual Roadcheck Program This Week
Monday, June 4th, 2012 -- 8:20 am
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

The Wisconsin State Patrol participates in the annual Roadcheck program from Tuesday through Thursday of this week.

Captain Dave Pabst with Motor Carrier Enforcement says during last year's effort, 723 commercial vehicles were inspected, with 171 trucks and 43 drivers placed out of service.

Pabst says brakes prove to be the most common vehicle component with problems revealed during inspections.

The inspectors also make sure drivers are adequately rested, using federal guidelines - they can pull drivers off the road if they appear too tired.

The Roadcheck program is among the reasons why Wisconsin has seen a forty percent drop in crashes involving large trucks over the past ten years.
