Neillsville Band Director Looking Forward to State

-Many local residents and students are looking forward to tomorrow as the Neillsville Girls basketball team heads to state.
One group of students is especially looking forward to it and that is the Neillsville band with their director James Voss.
Many people have been praising Mr. Voss and his work with the band saying he really gets the crowd riled up. I asked him how he goes about doing this and he said, “I just act like myself. I am a musician teaching band so I get to look at this position with a different perspective. I’ve been an entertainer all my life so I am comfortable putting on a show.
Mr. Voss went on to say, “Teaching full time has been stressful, but I do enjoy it.” James does direct both the Granton and Neillsville bands.
As proof of Mr. Voss’s talents, at the District Band Festival that took place Tuesday evening in Loyal, the band received three 1st rankings by a panel of three judges.
