Neillsville Fire Department Responds to Grass Fire

-The Neillsville Fire department responded to one fire that became two yesterday afternoon.
The fire department responded to a grass fire just after 2:00. The fire happened on the property of an old farmhouse and during the grass fire the east wall of an old barn did catch fire.
Neillsville did request mutual aid from the Granton Fire Department and the DNR assisted as well. They had the fire under control and put out in half an hour.
Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Strangfled said, “I’m not 100% sure what started the grass fire. An individual was boiling syrup not far away, but I don’t even think that was the cause of it.”
Strangfeld also wanted to thank the Granton Fire Department for all their help. He also wanted to thank them for covering them in putting out the fire.
