Neillsville Chamber Proposes Increase in Room Tax at City Council Meeting

-The City of Neillsville had its City Council Meeting Tuesday evening.
There were several items discussed, but one important item was the proposal to increase the room tax from 3% to 6%.
The Neillsville Chamber of Commerce made a proposal to the common council to make the increase.
The rate is set in the city ordinance and no action could be taken at that time. However, the Chamber did draft an ordinance change to the City Attorney in order to increase the number from 3% to 6%.
The ordinance would be drafted at the next meeting and then take effect depending on the starting date proposed.
