Greenwood Man Gets 3 Year Sentence for Killing Dogs

-A Greenwood man gets a three year sentence for killing dogs.
According to the TRG, Jerry Scherr killed his brother’s dogs in April of 2011. Police responded to a call when an intoxicated man said, “someone had to die sooner or later.” When police arrived the found a dead pit bull outside and then entered the home.
Scherr was asleep on the floor and was handcuffed and searched, however, when he woke, he tried to kick officers and tried to spit on them as he was lead to the squad car. He had leg restraints and a spit shield put on him, but he attempted to kick at the squad car doors and bang his head against the window. He struggled while blood was drawn as well.
The police found out that Scherr had shot a dog in the bathroom and the other outside because the dogs were urinating on his apple trees and “he was sick of it.”
