-Prison time is ordered for a local government official convicted of theft and misconduct in office.

According to WQOW, Cindy Cardinal was the deputy clerk in the city of Owen. She was charged last year after an audit showed more than $36,000 missing from city accounts. On Wednesday, a Clark County judge sentenced Cardinal to a year-and-a-half in prison. She must also repay the money and pay for the cost of the audit.

For the next eight years, she's prohibited from having a job or volunteer position that involves handling money. The judge also ordered Cardinal to write letters of apology to the city government, and to the community.
