PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION: MONDAY FIRE NOT "SUSPICIOUS"
Thursday, December 8th, 2005 -- 9:27 am
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

It remains unclear what started a deadly fire outside of Greenwood Monday, but the preliminary investigation indicates it was not intentionally set.

Two teenage boys died in the blaze that burned the home on Kingston Road in the Town of Mead.

At a Clark County Law Enforcement Committee meeting Wednesday, Chief Deputy Jim Backus said the boys’ father was at work at the time of the fire. By the time a neighbor reported it at around 2:40 a.m., the house was completely engulfed in flames.

Backus said the home had wood heat and no electricity.

A visitation and funeral for 15-year-old Karl Schwenn and 13-year-old Christopher Schwenn will be held at the Greenwood High School Gymnasium on Saturday night.
