Trial for Dennis Martin Begins

-Trial got underway in an area courtroom Wednesday for a man charged in a crash that killed another driver.
Dennis Martin is on trial for homicide by negligent driving. It was in July of 2009 that he allegedly drove his refrigerated truck past a yield sign and collided with a van. Joan Beyer, from Loyal, was killed. The crash happened late at night, just northeast of Loyal.
The investigation showed Martin was familiar with the intersection because it was part of his milk route. An accident reconstruction estimated he was driving 50 to 60 miles per hour at the time of the collision. The trial is expected to run for three days and we will have more information for you as it become available.
