The names and ages of the victims of Monday’s tragic fire outside of Greenwood are still being withheld. Two people are dead after a fire consumed a home northwest of Greenwood early Monday morning. According to a press release, the Clark County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a fire on Kingston Rd. at around 2:40 a.m. Monday morning.

The residence, located in the Town of Mead, was completely engulfed in flames at the time of the call.

The Greenwood and Thorp Fire Departments responded to the scene. The cause of the blaze is unknown and remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Department and the Department of Justice-Division of Criminal Investigation.

Clark County Sheriff Louis Rosandich says it is a “formality” that the DCI be called in to investigate fatal fires and it does not indicate a suspicion the fire was intentionally set.

The names and ages of the victims are not being released pending notification of relatives.
