Marshfield Man Killed in Afghanistan

A Marshfield man has become the latest casualty in the war in Afghanistan.
The military says 27-year-old Staff Sgt. Joseph Altmann, an Army medic, died of injuries sustained during a small arms attack in Kunar Province.
His mother told the Associated Press Tuesday that the family is devastated and is preparing to fly to Dover, Del. for the arrival of her son's body.
Altmann was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks. He served two tours of duty in Iraq and just re-enlisted for another four years.
He was married in February.
