UPDATE: TIPS COME IN ON MISSING WOMAN CASE
Friday, November 25th, 2005 -- 12:18 pm
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

It’s been almost two weeks and investigators know the chances of finding a missing Thorp woman alive decrease as each day passes.

21-year-old Christine Rudy’s husband, Shaun, told authorities he left his wife by the side of the road south of Thorp after the two argued on November 12th. The woman, who is six months pregnant, hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

Since releasing information about Rudy’s disappearance earlier this week, the Clark County Sheriff’s Department has received numerous tips. Chief Deputy Jim Backus says they’re optimistic these tips could aid the investigation.

"We've had a fair amount of calls giving us a wide-variety of information," Backus says. "(Investigators) are meeting daily to discuss those leads. The entire detective bureau is splitting this up and taking priority leads and still working on those."

At least some of the tips have come from hunters who may have seen the couple.

Authorities continue to treat Rudy as a “missing person”, but Backus concedes hope that she’s still alive diminishes each day she remains missing.

"Especially being six-months pregnant, we're hoping to find her alive. As each day passes, we get more concerned," Backus says.

Shaun Rudy, 23, continues to be held in the Clark County jail on unrelated charges. According to on-line court records, Rudy was charged last Friday with being a felon in possession of a firearm and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia charges.

An initial appearance is scheduled for next Thursday.

Backus says the charges do not stem from any searches or investigations related to his wife’s disappearance. He calls the timing of the charges a “coincidence”.
