Osseo-Fairchild Chooses "Thunder" Nickname

An area school has a new nickname. WEAU-TV reports Osseo-Fairchild will be known as the “Thunder.”
The name was unveiled last night during the first home basketball game of the year.
The school had to drop its “Cheiftans” nickname under a recently passed state law.
Thunder is an allusion to Frank Thunder, a Ho-Chunk Nation leader depicted in the old logo.
Thunder was a write-in option that beat out Bengals, Phoenix, Osprey and Dragons.
