Koula Trial In One Week
Monday, November 28th, 2011 -- 11:11 am
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

The jury trial in a much-talked about double homicide case will start in one week.

Eric Koula, 42, a Neillsville High School graduate, will spend the rest of his life in prison if he’s convicted of killing his parents, Merna and Dennis Koula, in May 2010.

The La Crosse Tribune reports that prosecutors and Koula’s defense team have narrowed the pool of potential jurors from 175 to 75. Attorneys will make their final culls when the trial starts on Monday, December 5th.

And the hearing will start in extraordinary fashion with the jury and media touring the couple’s home in the Town of Barre. That’s where prosecutors say Eric Koula, a struggling day-trader, shot and killed his mother as she worked on the computer and his father as he arrived home from work.

The trial will start Monday and is slated to run through December 21.
