December hasn’t even started yet, but the spring elections are already taking shape.

County and municipal races highlight the ballot in spring.

Would-be candidates can begin circulating nomination papers this Thursday, but can already file declarations of candidacy or non-candidacy.

The entire Clark County Board will be up for reelection. Several supervisors have officially expressed an interest to seek reelection.

Among them is current District 25 supervisor Larry Fitzmaurice of Neillsville. It appears he will face a challenge from current Neillsville School Board President Rick Opelt, who has also filed a Declaration of Candidacy.

Under the newly redrawn supervisory maps, District 25 covers the southern half of the City of Neillsville.

Here in the City of Neillsville, Mayor Dewey Poeschel will be up for reelection. Also, aldermen Dale Berger’s and Jerry Quicker’s seats are up for reelection.

No one has filed papers in the City, yet.

Candidates have until January 3 to file the proper paperwork to appear on the Spring Election ballot.
