Gov. Scott Walker’s wife, Tonette, was in Clark County on Monday.

Tonette visited The Highground Veterans Memorial Park for her seventh and final “Walk With Walker” stop this year.

"Walk with Walker is a program my husband used to have when he was (Milwaukee) County Executive. They'd walk at lunchtime to stay healthy," she explained. "It's just walking the state. A nature walk. A slow walk, but getting outdoors."

"Of course, it's beautiful."

After each Walk with Walker, she blogs about the sights and sounds of the experience at her website: walkwithwalkerwi.org.

"We've been all over Wisconsin. It's been a great time to get to know everybody," she says.

The First Lady was with her husband a few years ago when he visited The Highground on his annual Harley ride. "I was here. I've only been on the top area. I guess we're going on the trails, so that will be nice," she said.

Among her entourage was Tourism Secretary Stephanie Klett, who many might recognize from the weekly travel show “Discover Wisconsin,” which she hosted for almost twenty years.

Klett visited The Highground while hosting the show and called it “absolutely amazing.” She says she’s been “shocked” by how many Wisconsinites don’t appreciate the state’s rich military heritage.
