DRIVER DRINKS BEER DURING TRAFFIC STOP

It wasn’t the smartest thing a criminal’s ever done.

During a traffic stop in Neillsville this week, the 20-year-old driver allegedly started drinking a can of beer in front of officers, who were already going to nail him for several violations.

Police pulled over the vehicle after noticing the registration had expired. They also discovered the two occupants weren’t wearing their seatbelts and had no proof of insurance.

Then they saw a 30-pack of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer, with two open cans.

As one officer was calling in the stop, another officer observed the driver “quickly drink the beer” while being detained.

That netted a few other violations, including underage drinking and having an open intoxicant in a vehicle.
