AMISH MAN TICKETED AFTER 'SLOW-SPEED CHASE'

A 22-year-old man is facing charges after what might be described as a slow-speed chase.
According to the criminal complaint, Daniel Swartzentruber of rural Neillsville was operating a buggy on Clark County Highway “H” near Christie earlier this week.
A deputy came upon the buggy in a no-passing zone, the buggy didn’t move off the road, so the deputy beeped.
Under state law, the operator of a slow-moving vehicle must yield to faster traffic, as long as they’re given an audible warning.
The buggy operator ignored the honking, and continued to block traffic, prompting the deputy to activate their lights and sirens and even pull along side the buggy.
Meanwhile, about ten cars became backed up.
The buggy operator refused to pull over, eventually pulling into a driveway three-quarters of a mile down the road.
Swartzentruber has been charged with operating a slow vehicle and failing to yield.
