Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

A tree-killing insect has been confirmed in La Crosse County.

Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection officials say the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) was discovered about one mile east of the La Crosse city limits. The six beetles were caught in a survey trap and confirmed last Friday.

This is the closest to our area the beetle has been confirmed.

The EAB has been confirmed in Brown, Crawford, Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Vernon, and Washington counties.

La Crosse and neighboring counties will be quarantined soon.
