Officials from hospitals in Neillsville, Black River Falls, Tomah and other communities in western Wisconsin met with a high-ranking federal official Thursday.

U.S. Rep. Ron Kind (D-WI) and Dr. Don Berwick, administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), held a rural health care round table with over 25 providers and leaders from facilities across the region.

Dr. Berwick is the top government official overseeing the Medicare and Medicaid programs.

According to a press release from Rep. Kind’s office, Dr. Berwick hopes to use some of what he learns to create a blueprint for a national model of care.
