A couple of fishing holes in Clark County are part of an advisory warning of mercury pollution.

According to the newly updated Wisconsin DNR Mercury Advisory, women of childbearing age and children under 15 should not eat certain fish from Lake Arbutus and Sherwood Lake, because of elevated mercury levels in those fish.

In Lake Arbutus, the advisory covers Walleye larger than 22”, Channel Catfish larger than 25” and Smallmouth Bass larger than 17”.

In Sherwood Lake, the advisory is for Largemouth Bass larger than 16”.

Men and older women are also supposed to limit their consumption of these fish to just 1 meal per month.

The consumption of Black Crappies and Bluegills caught in these waters should also be limited to 1 meal per month for women of childbearing age and those under 15, and one meal per week for everyone else.
