POLL: KAPANKE FACES TOUGH ODDS
Thursday, June 30th, 2011 -- 12:19 pm Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director
It appears a western Wisconsin lawmaker will have a tough slog if he’s to hold on to his state senate seat.
The poll finds state representative Jennifer Shilling, Dem., La Crosse, holds a 14-point lead over sitting state senator Dan Kapanke, Rep., La Crosse, among likely voters.
The poll was commissioned by a liberal blog and conducted by left-leaning Public Policy Polling.
Still, the huge margin in Schilling’s favor and the unusually low number of undecideds—only 3-percent—could spell trouble for Kapanke’s campaign.
Election observers caution that a mid-summer election is extremely rare, and no one knows exactly how it will impact voter turnout.
