CLARK ELECTRIC WORKERS RETURN FORM LOUISIANA

A couple Clark Electric Cooperative linesman are back in Wisconsin after spending ten days helping restore power to hurricane-battered Louisiana. Scott Bailen and Jeff Block traveled to the Deep South earlier this month. Bailen says they worked 14-hour days in extremely hot and humid conditions.

"There wasn't much water damage, it was mostly just wind," Bailen says. "The locals said they had 125 mph winds."

They were stationed north of New Orleans and the line crews from around the country were housed in a huge tent.

"There was a 350 man tent we stayed in. It had three air conditioners. That was the nice thing because it was very, very, very hot," Bailen said.

While he was happy to help out, Bailen says he’ll take away some specific memories from Louisiana: the heat and humidity and the bugs, spiders and snakes that were everywhere.
