TENTATIVE DATE OF CLARK CO. BOARD RECALL SET

It looks like a recall election of a Clark County board member will happen on August 2nd.
Byrl Dahl of Chili filed a petition with the county to recall Steve Okonek of Chili. The petition had 163 signatures—64 more than needed to force another election.
Clark County Clerk Christina Jensen reviewed the signatures and plans to officially declare them “sufficient” next week.
While Dahl has declared himself a candidate in the race, Jensen says any district resident can come forward and run. If there are more than two candidates for the position, a primary election will be held August 2nd and the general election will be held August 30th.
If Dahl and Okonek are the only candidates, they will square off on August 2nd.
Dahl says Okonek ignored the will of his constituents when he spearheaded the effort to bring back the controversial comprehensive plan.
Okonek’s 2-year term on the board is up in April. He calls the recall a “horrible waste” of taxpayer money.
