School leaders are still sorting through the details of the Assembly-approved spending plan, but it appears public schools will bear a huge share of the cuts.

According to an analysis of the Joint Finance Committee approved budget performed by the Wisconsin Association of School District Administrators, the Greenwood, Loyal, Granton and Neillsville school districts will lose a combined $1.8-million in revenue during the 2011-12 school year. They’ll lose a combined $2.4-million the next year.

That’s nearly $4.2-million over the next two years, compared to current law.

The budget still must pass the State Senate. They were scheduled to start debating the measure Thursday afternoon.

As of Thursday morning, it was still unclear if amendments passed by Republicans lwill have a significant impact on school funding.
