GREENWOOD FALLS, MCDONELL HEADED TO STATE

The Greenwood Indian baseball team saw their season come to end on Tuesday in the Sectional Semi-Final at Abbotsford, losing to Athens 23-9 while Chippewa Falls McDonell advanced to State with a Sectional Final win over Shell Lake 23-1. Greenwood (23-3) committed seven errors, hit five batters and walked a season-high 18 batters. Jeffrey Rachu led Greenwood with three hits. Athens then lost to Rosholt in the final 6-1. McDonell will be heading back to State for the third consecutive year and will play in a Division 4 State Semi-Final next Wednesday against Barneveld at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute.
