NEILLSVILLE BUDGET FINALIZED
Thursday, October 13th, 2005 -- 12:10 pm Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director
The City of Neillsville’s Finance Committee has wrapped up work on the proposed 2006 budget. Overall spending would decrease by 5-percent under the plan, but thanks to a big 11.8%-decrease in non-property tax revenue, the city will still have to nudge up the levy by 1.9%. City Clerk Rex Roehl says the city will get $57,000 less in state shared revenue next year. While the overall budget will go down, Roehl says the city will have to absorb a $19,000 in insurance costs, a $14,500 increase in vehicle fuel and a $13,000 increase to utility costs. Those increase are offset by applying $243,993 from the general fund; an increase of $53,785, or 28% from last year. Roehl says the city’s tax rate won’t be known until the state announces our updated property value. The public hearing on the budget will be held November 8th at 7:30 p.m. at the City Hall.
