The Clark County Sheriff’s Department has released more information about a farming accident that took the life of a rural Neillsville man on Monday morning.

According to a press release, the department received a 911 call at around 6:49 a.m. reporting 69-year-old Richard Shaw had been caught in a skid steer and that he wasn’t breathing. A family member was able to free him but resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.

The initial investigation indicates there were mechanical problems with the skid steer and Shaw became trapped between the loader arms and engine hood when he tried to repair the machine.

Shaw was pronounced dead at the scene by Clark County Coroner Richard Schleifer. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of family.
