MARATHON COUNTY OFFICIAL CHARGED

Marathon County's snowmobile coordinator is accused of stealing 25-thousand dollars in government money by setting up a bogus company and mailing checks to himself. Dave Marg is charged with misconduct in public office, theft and attempted theft. A criminal complaint says the future of Marg's job was up in the air and he was angry because his boss never went to bat for him to help save his position with the Wausau and Marathon County Parks and Recreation Department. Authorities began investigating Marg after another employee suspected that a check had been sent to a fictitious address. Marg resigned yesterday. The maximum punishment for the charges against him is 40 years in prison.
