LOCAL TAXPAYERS TO COVER RECOUNT COSTS

Canvass workers in Clark County will probably get to work on their portion of a statewide Supreme Court recount this week.
Assistant Attorney General Joanne Kloppenburg requested the recount last Wednesday. Because her loss to Justice David Prosser was within one half of one percent, local taxpayers will pay for the recount. Experts say it’s highly unlikely she’ll gain the 7,000 votes she needs to flip the result.
Clark County Clerk Christina Jensen says the recount will cost Clark County about $1,000. She will participate in a statewide teleconference with the Government Accountability Board on Monday.
