Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

The head prosecutor in Jackson County says a 1989 murder has been solved, but the culprit has already passed away.

The body of Jennifer Wesho, 9, was found in the woods near Black River Falls in August of 1989.

Jackson County D-A Gerald Fox isn't releasing the name of the killer yet, but says that person is already dead and he’ll release more information at a press conference Thursday afternoon.

Pathologists determined Wesho had been sexually assaulted and had cigarette burns on her body from before and after her death. The autopsy showed the cause of death was trauma and strangulation.
