MEMORIAL MED'S GREENWOOD CLINIC DISCUSSED

Memorial Medical Center’s Clinic in Greenwood is currently closed, and it’s unclear if it will reopen.
Staff held a community meeting Thursday night.
CEO Scott Polenz says about 25 people attended the meeting. The facility will remain closed for one or two months after the unexpected departure of the nurse practioner that staffed the facility.
Only 3-7 patients seek care at the facility on an average day. Polenz estimates only about 11% of those patients then seek further care at MMC, the rest seek care elsewhere. The clinic has run between $40,000 and $76,000 in the red the past three years.
The 10-member board plans to make a decision about the facility by early May.
