LOYAL NATIVE HEADS UP WINNING "RUBE" TEAM

A University of Wisconsin-Stout team has won the Rube Goldberg contest for a 2nd straight year. The team is headed by a Loyal native.

The Purdue University competition is named for the late cartoonist Rube Goldberg, known for his drawings of whimsical, complicated devices performing simple tasks.

In true Goldbergian fashion, Stout’s contraption took 135 steps to water a plant.

Captain Andrew Behnke of Loyal said the team, composed mostly of education and business majors, developed a storyline that drove the steps for the handcrafted machine.
