NEILLSVILLE GIRLS ARE REGIONAL CHAMPS

The Neillsville girls basketball team won their 4th Regional Championship in the last 6 years with a 52-23 win over West Salem on Saturday night in Holmen. The Warriors (24-0) advanced to the Sectional Semi-Final on Thursday night thanks to good second half defense and good 3-point shooting. Neillsville led 17-7 after one thanks to 11 points from Stephanie O'Leary off the bench including three 3-pointers. Leading by 11 going into the second half Neillsville outscored West Salem 16-3 in the third quarter which included a pair of 3-pointers each for MacKenzie Trunkel and Sami Pfieffer. Leading scorer Jenny Lindner was held to just 1 point in the first half and she finished with 8, but other girls were able to pick up the scoring and Neillsville moves on to play Altoona in the Sectional Semi-Final on Thursday night at Osseo-Fairchild at 7pm.
