AREA DNR WARDEN CALLED TO CAPITOL

An area DNR warden is in Madison helping with crowd control in the Capitol building.

Adam Hanna says he and other wardens from around the state were called Madison on Wednesday night after protests again erupted over Gov. Walker's budget repair bill.

"I don't know how many thousands of people were here (Thursday), but it wsa busy," Hanna says.

He and other officials ran metal detectors, searched bags and kept an eye on people that "were getting a little too excited."

DNR wardens are patrolling the first two floors of the Capitol itself.

As for the crowd, Hanna says they’re loud—in fact, the wardens and officers in the building have to wear earplugs, but very polite.

"Mostly sweet old ladies that are teachers, so you can't be too afraid of that, I guess. A lot of good people. It's too bad we gather under these circumstances, I guess, but here we are."

He’ll be there through the weekend, with huge protests expected Saturday.
