Monday's preliminary hearing for a former Neillsville teacher and church treasurer accused of stealing from a local congregation did not happen.

John Roenz, 62, was expected to waive the hearing. The case would then move to trial, according to Clark County District Attorney Darwin Zwieg.

Roenz allegedly stole around $140,000 from Calvary Lutheran Church, where he served as treasurer. He’s also facing six counts of income tax fraud.
