MOULTON: I WISH WE COULD FIRE DEMOCRATIC SENATORS

Thousands continue to gather at the state Capitol each day in protest of the Governor’s budget repair bill, and lawmakers have security concerns for when it eventually reaches a vote in the Legislature.

The Assembly could act on the bill as early as Tuesday, although passage in the Senate has been blocked by Democrats who left the state last week to prevent a vote. Republicans in both chambers maintain their belief it will pass when a vote does take place.

State Sen. Terry Moulton (R-Chippewa Falls) was in Neillsville Saturday night for the Clark County Republican Party’s annual Lincoln Day Dinner at the American Legion Hall.

While he didn’t say he’s received threats to his personal safety, he does expect opponents to try to “take down” his business.

"I had about 200 protesters surround my business (Saturday) and threatened to take my business down and get rid of me," Moulton says, "so, yeah, I've been threatened."

Moulton says his Democratic colleagues need to come back to work.

"A normal citizen who doesn't do his job and walks out and goes to a different state would be fired. If we had the capability, I'd love to fire them," Moulton says, noting Republicans didn't flee the state when Democrats were in power. "There were a lot of things that Republicans didn't agree with...but they came to work. They stayed there."

Moulton said Republicans had “some options” to deal with the Democrats, but didn’t elaborate.
