Farm numbers in Wisconsin were pretty steady in 2010.

The USDA issued its annual farm inventory totals this week. The report showed that the Badger State had 78,000 farms in 2010, virtually unchanged from the year earlier. About 15.2 million acres of land was used for farming during each of the past three years.

All tolled, there were 2.2-million farms in the U.S. in 2010, virtually unchanged from 2009.

A farm is classified as any place from which $1,000 or more of agricultural products were produced and sold, or normally would have been sold during the year.
