EGG PRODUCTS PLANT WILL CLOSE

The parent company of Abbotsford Egg Products in northern Clark County has decided to close the plant later this year and move its product line to a new facility in Minnesota.
According to [i]Wisconsin Ag Connection[/ir] Michael Foods Inc. announced this week that the organic and cage-free egg facility in Abbotsford will close during the third quarter of 2011. The move is expected to eliminate about 37 local jobs.
Company Vice President Diane Sparish says the firm is expanding its specialty egg business under the Abbotsford name, which includes nine varieties of hard cooked, liquid and whole eggs.
Workers at the Abbotsford plant will receive bonuses for remaining with the company until it closes.
